Destroying your own

There has been a bomb blast at a Marriot hotel in Jakarta. Apparently an Indonesian faction of Al-Qaeda was responsible for the attack. The attack killed 10 people, mainly foreigners. The only benefit of this blast would be further devasation to the Indonesian tourism industry, just like it happened after last years attacks in Bali. Since that event, tourism revenues in that country have dropped more than 70 percent.

So, basically, spreading terror in your own land means bad news for your own people. Locals lose foreign dollars, their jobs and their country's image is tarnished for atleast the near future. Why do they do it then? Is it a big conspiracy by Indonesia's enemies... yeah that's what they probably have said at the official press conference. Or was it really Islamic fanatics who don't give a shit about killing their own people as long as they taking even a drop of blood of their enemy as well. Logic is not always more believable.

That brings me to what I read today about controversial French author Meyssan Thierry. According to him 9/11 was master minded by the U.S. industry & the Pentagon in order to gain control over Afghanistan and the oil in the middle east. In his books, which have best sellers in Europe but not given much media coverage here in the U.S., he argues that the Pentagon wasn't even hit by jetliner, but instead by a modified U.S. cruise missile resembling an A.A. jet. But like all official and unofficial explanations about the events of 9-11-01, this one has holes as well that, that makes one ask for further clarification. Question # 1: What happened to the plane then? And what about those poles?

Anyway, It would take more than a theory to make me change my views that the WTC were not struck by jetliners piloted by Saudi fanatics who wanted to kill "infidels". Those guys were made to believe that doing that would be good for their people, when infact it was all for the power greed of a handful of towelheads, and to the misery of their kind. It will always be like that, terrorizing civilians will never help anyones cause.

Conclusion, one must be either really stupid, really crazy or really evil to kill his own people in order to gain power. And you never know who might turn out to be just that.
