Here's a list of movies that are to come out from now to the end of the year. I'm really looking forward to these.
The Battle of Shaker Heights
Release Date: August 22nd, 2003
This is the "Project Greenlight 2" movie. Produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and directed by newcommers Efram Potelle and Kyle Rankin. The directors won a contest from among 7,200 total script entries. The money follows the life of a teenage WWII buff who takes parts in re-inacments. There he makes this new friend who teaches him how to tackle his high school bully and life a life of dignity. But, there's a catch, the protagonist falls for his new friend's elder sister. Interesting... very interesting.
Underworld
Release Date: September 19th, 2003
Underworld stars Kate Beckinsale & Scott Speedman as Selene and Michael or in geneology terms a vampire and a werewolf. Both races hate and kill each other, but these two actually manage to fall in love... I loved the teaser that I got to see some weeks ago. The movie's action and costumes are very similar to the Matrix, while the color tint is kind of like the blue from Minority Report. I think both these factors interest me alot.
Scary Movie 3
Release Date: October 24th, 2003
This is my comedy to wait for this year... since I have already seen American Wedding. This sequel of the movie that said "no sequels" on it's posters mocks The Matrix, Signs, The Ring and even 8 Mile. From the trailer it seems like a very funny movie. Let's just hope it is.
The Matrix Revolutions
Release Date: November 5th, 2003
My most anticipated movie of the year. Finally I will know why we are all here. I hope the oracle has some good news for me ;)
The Last Samurai
Release Date: December 5th, 2003
The Tom Cruise starer to watch out for this year. I've seen the preview and it definitely looks like Oscar material. The movie is set in the 1870s when Cruise's character is recruited from the U.S. by the Japanese empire to teach their soldiers how to use guns, so that they can win their war with the free-standing Samurai who don't like the Emperor. Cruise is captured by the Samurai and offered to choose a side... the people or the empire that rules over them. See it for more info.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Release Date: December 17th, 2003
This is the only movie scheduled to release on Dec. 17, which shows how big of a deal this is for studios. The movie features the final battle between good and evil in middle earth. Peter Jackson's effects company (WETA) has developed a special software 2 create the battle sequences. Although it was used in the first and second movie, it's main use would be in the last and final battle at Grey Havens... according to Jackson's own words: "That scene is probably the most powerful part of the entire film."
Peter Pan
Release Date: December 25th, 2003
Well, I have always liked children's adventure movies. And this one is no exception... from the trailer it looks pretty cool, IL&M had put plenty of effort into the special fx. The movie has been produced on a budget of $100 million.
