No, it's not Microsoft doing it. It's this small, cheap, hungry for lawsuit money company called Eolas that recently won a court battle against Microsoft saying that it stole Eolas' "plugins" technology to use in it's web browser. Not only are these guys dumb enough for being responsible for a possible meltdown in dynamic media rich webpage technology, they have an ugly looking website.
Jeffrey Zelman explains at his web design site how this court decision could force Microsoft to remove technologies like Flash, Quicktime, JavaApplets and even AcrobatReader from it's browser all together... making websurfers load each of these filetypes in their proprietary software. How dumb is that??? I believe the judge who told Microsoft to do that, along with giving Eolas $521 million, is a dumbass who rarely goes pass checking his AOL Mail to see what the web today is all about. Me probably doesn't even know that it's Internet Explorer running in the background that let's him do that.
So far Microsoft has been denied it's first appeal against the decision. I hope they continue to fight and win this war between the dumb and greedy and the smart and rich. I say give Eolas and UC (Eolas' partner in this case) enough money to shut their fucking mouths and let everyone get along with their web development without these unnecessary nightmares.
