Ashamed, I am

BBC reports about a recent "graduation ceremony" at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Pakistan's North-West Frontier Province. This is one of the madarasahs in Pakistan, which have over the years taken small innocent kids of poor locals and turned them into the Taleban.

It's very saddening how repeated efforts by the government have failed to make any change to the ideology taught at these school. But what can they do? These jerks are funded by the Saudi regime, which sees it as a wise investment to propagate their own narrow wahabi version of Islam (the one followed by the Taleban). Also keeping the fire under the pot is the conservative tribal mentality of the Pashtuns, the ethnic group that almost all of the Taleban constitute of.

I wish that instead of teaching the use of AK-47s and allegiance to Al-Qaeda, they would teach love and peace among humanity. Isn't that what Islam is all about?

It's times like these I am ashamed of.
