In the age old tradition of my last entry about movies that I am looking forward to seeing in the coming months, I hereby present you with this enlightening description of next month's extravangant display of big-bugdet and mega-starring extravagant flicks that will blow you off your feet (I'll put a waterbed behind you, so don't you worry).
It seems like Hollywood got too greedy after last year's record breaking $9 billion box office sales, and really put itself into full gear for epics ranging from The Last Samurai to Peter Pan and more, when we all already knew about the The Matrix Sequels and and the last of the Lord of the Rings. All this madness will reach it's height next month, when some of the most awaited movies come out, infact, in my last awaiting movies list, 3 were from the same month. Anyway, here's a complete list of movie's that I am really really looking forward to watching next month...
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Release Date: December 17th, 2003
I wish I had bought the tickets for the December 16 moviethone where they'll show all three Lord of the Ring movies back to back. I was too late :(
This last movie is probably the most anticipated one out of everything coming out in December, and it will surely be one hell of a ride.
Peter Pan
Release Date: December 25th, 2003
Well, I have always liked children's adventure movies. And this one is no exception... from the trailer it looks pretty cool, IL&M had put plenty of effort into the special fx. The movie has been produced on a budget of $100 million.
The Last Samurai
Release Date: December 5th, 2003
The movie is set in the 1870s when Tom Cruise's character is recruited from the U.S. by the Japanese empire to teach their soldiers how to use guns, so that they can win their war against the Samurai rebels. Cruise is captured by the Samurai and offered to choose a side... the people or the empire that rules over them. Interesting.
Cold Mountain
Release Date: December 25th, 2003
The Civil War epic was not in my original list, actually I only had some vague knowledge of it before I read this news report today. Seems like a a pretty good contender with mega stars like Nicole Kidman, Jude Law and Renee Zellweger.
Paycheck
Release Date: December 25th, 2003
This movie is (a bit) similar to Mememto or even last year's The Bourne Identity. Ben Affleck, playing an electric engineer working on a top secret optics-related project, wakes up one day with all his memory related to his work been washed by his employer - with his own consent - and now he has to find out why... because the Feds are after him for something that has to do with his work. Seems like a cheesy overdone subject, but because movies of this kind have to have an original plot to satisfy popcorn eating crowds, I am betting that this movie would be a genuine thriller.
wish i'll get time to even "think" much less see movies :- ( it's been a while since hollywood came up with something i liked and now well seeing that i'm so badly STUCK knee deep (and sinking fast) in this infinite marsh of assignments, projects and presentations i would hardly get the chance to wade through any of the upcoming good stuff either :- (
oh sorrows and sadness :-(
wish me luck God knows i need it !
im so sick of hollywood.
check out the independent films instead.
they often give nice surprises.
Good luck Hina :)
And yeah I do root for Indi movies too. Actually quite a lot, but mostly for those that either get alot of critical acclaim or make it big. For example, I loved the Blair Witch Project.
