It had been only two week since I finally claimed my blog at Blogshares, a fantasy stock exchange where blogs was weighed by their popularity. And so yesterday the service went down for good. It had to happen, and for some reason I think it's 'cause I signed up. Surprisingly people had even bought my stock and it was already worth a staggering 1,700 bucks. But this had to happen, and now I'd have to remove the blogshare button that I had just recently added here. It's [X] mark paints a very sorrow picture of how fragile the web is. I mean come to think of it, thousands used the service, but only a hand full maintained and funded it. And when you can't pay for your bandwidth, you're history.

The site's currently displaying only the news of this sad demise, but no mention of any alternatives, since there are none. It was designed and maintained by London based Iranian, Seyed Razavi. Interestingly, the share index listed blogs that pinged weblogs.com, like mine does, even if they never actually signed up. Some people objected to that alot, requesting to be delisted, which I think is acting kind of ungrateful. Although this argument was hot a few months back, but it might just be one of the reasons the creator decided to close down the site entirely. Speculations amass!

So there's always hidden parts to every story, much like the extended version of The Two Towers that'll be on Starz! on December 19th. Enjoy while they last. :D
