Lots and lots

So the starting point of today's first Google quest was blog advertisement. Not that I wanted to get ads for my blog and make some money outta that, nope I'm not that smart. I actually wanted to spend money to advertise my blog. But that seems a bit shameful, "advertising your blog? you cheap bastard!". Anyway, I discovered blogads.com, which although is not targeted towards blog advertisers, allows anyone to place ads on other blogs for a price. For example, $375 buys you a week of advertising at instapundit.com. Not bad for [probably] the most visited blog on the web.

The second result on Google was blog snob, a 1:1 ratio text ad exchange for bloggers. To give more serious consideration to blog snob, I then searched on it's name. Found an entry about blog snob being hacked at marmalade.ca. Curosity about a Muslim sounding name of a commentator at that post led me to a blog titled temporary insanity. The author's last entry read, "145 years ago today, temporary insanity was first successfully used as a defense in court." (Posted Feb. 19, 2004). Not much else interested me, so I looked at her blogroll, clicked on photojunkie.ca. There I found this wonderful photoblog which I should be blogrolling soon. Anyway, back to our original topic...

Google's main search results page; third result: an entry at pentode labs. The author described usin' it [blog snob] is just a "shameless plug". And I agreed. What else? I went to his last entry about this new term, "technosexual". The author linked to Alternet's official definition: "a dandyish narcissist in love with not only himself, but also his urban lifestyle and gadgets; a straight man who is in touch with his feminine side but has fondness for electronics such as cell phones, PDAs, computers, software, and the web." There's a quiz at techtv.com to check if you are one, a technosexual. I usually don't take these quizilla style tests 'cause seems so faddish to me (then again, people say the same thing about blogging). Still, I reluctantly took the quiz. The results:

Haydur, you're so Technosexual you probably think this quiz is about you. You're right, of course, but you're still a dork.
By then I had wasted 30 minutes of my life on gaining knowledge that most people won't ever look over and in the process been called a dork and a narcissist. That sucks since I always complain to myself for not having enough free time :(.

Well, screw everything. I'm out. Ciao.

Why don't your try Adwords or Google Adwords, to be specific. If you just want to see what it is, it would be more fun playing with Google Adwords, which is supposed to be more tech-savvy thing than the rest. And we could share how it went.

Yeah, that I'm thinking about doing... BUT I want to atleast finish all the 'works' that I have already entered into the blog, and which are all just 'titles' for now.

And why not... afterall I did get 2 $25 Adword coupons from 1and1

1 and 1? Shrewd guy. So you must be enjoying their whole-year free offer as well, wouldn't you?
I spent some similar coupons on Google Adwords almost 2 years ago but I hope the application must have improved and expanded alot esp. after the Overture-Yahoo and Adsense era. So, it would be great if we could hear your findings and stats from your campaign.

Yeah 1and1.com... but I'm not hosting any projects on their accounts yet. Their control panel is kinda confusing, and they don't have cPanel or even phpmyadmin (which I could install myself, but... I mean, who has the time).

And for Adwords, I have everything ready... the keywords, the campaigns, the budget, everything. It's just that I'm waiting for a break (spring break, which for me is next month) to spend some time on finishing a few projects here before I launch the campaign. But that'd only be IF I don't go to Florida!

Oh man, you gotta be kidding. Okay, if you plan to be in Florida, I should take care of your campaign ;) Come on, you said you just want to experiment and not "really" looking after huge traffic. So, you could share it, don't you? And who knows your 25$ are eaten up by Adwords in a matter of a week (mine lasted for 6 weeks, thanks to my very choosy keywords). And beside your campaigns, I had more things to discuss with you. But if you have some problem with time management, I better stick my arse here and wait for suitable time. In either way, don't stop bloggin' at least. Good luck.
