Myth Busting

If you can't figure it out, this is a macro shot of a piece of paper folded eight times. And if you haven't heard about this before, here's the scoop: a piece of paper, no matter how big or thin, cannot be folded more than seven times in half. Most people note it as a fact.

When I recently heard about it in a forwarded email, I put my theory to test. Lo and behold, I was unable to do it with a regular letter size printer paper. But I figured that the only reason was that the paper was too friggin' thick and at one point you just don't have enough power to fold it anymore (may be if you use a machine...?). Anyway, later one day I bought the new TenderCrisp Chicken Sandwich from BK, and in the paper bag was a napkin. I just unfolded it, and then folded it again... upto the eighth time. I believe I could have done it even more, but I just wanted to prove that it could be done past the magic 7. And don't tell me it's not paper because even an idiot knows that tissue is paper... thus "tissue paper".

So it was settled... until I found this page. god dammit!
