The New York Times ran a great article yesterday about how "India's vaunted high-technology work force is not always as effective as advertised."
The article, although mostly noting how companies are pulling out of Indian outsourcing contracts because "the cost advantage does not always justify the effort", notes to my earlier observations that jobs that require close proximation, fast-changing requirements and familiarity with customers' needs cannot be outsourced.
Here's what an Indian born head of a U.S. network management software firm believes according to the article:
...once the "hype cycle" about Indian outsourcing runs its course, projects will come back to the United States "when people find that their productivity goals have not been met."Posted in World View on April 29, 2004 6:45 PM
