Ansari X-Prize: Gone

Ok, we have a winner. Aviation Pioneer Burt Rutan's company, Scaled Composites has won the Ansari X-Prize by sending a manned spaceship into space (and bringing it back to earth) twice within the two week. The project was funded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.

Here's the video of the latest prize winning flight. I can't even open the main X-Prize site right now, must be the tons of traffic they must be getting right now.

A side note on the "Ansari" prefix to the X-Prize: X-Prize foundation renamed the award in May, 2004 to reflect a major donation from two Iranian born entrepreneurs, Anousheh Ansari and Amir Ansari.
