Discovering 'the Boss'

Earlier in this semester, a rep. from Prentice Hall came to this intro to computer class and gave away free CDs to students as a reward for buying his company's overpriced books. One student, who must've been pissed off at the selection of CDs offered, left Bruce Springsteen's "The Missing" CD in the lab. As a diligent lab employee I didn't touch the CD and just had it put in the lost and found box. But after more than a month, I thought it was time for the CD to share it's rhythmic content with my ears. And that's how I pretty much discovered the Boss.

Now this is one album that doesn't fit into the "one good song in a CD" category. [Almost] every song has a beat along with the lyrics that you should remember. I mean, I do. I thought I would never go back to the regular CDs after experiences the number of choices that 100+ song mp3 CD offers, but this album almost, and I say almost, makes me wanna buy CDs.

I don't know if my liking for this piece is because it came "free", but I just love this music. There's even a song called "Worlds Apart" done in collaboration with Asif Ali Khan and group, a Pakistani folk musician.

So from contemporary Indian movie OSTs, to alternative rock to Christian Rock and now to classic rock, my taste in music seems to be getting pretty diverse, much like the American experience itself. Not a bad this at all. And hey, Bruce rocks for Kerry.
