Clubbing? Haram! ain't it?

My best friend's going through one of his religious phases again. No, no, you need not get concerned. He's not a psycho type, he's just too afraid of God. You see, the only point being conveyed to the Muslims from their clergy is that they should be afraid of the wrath of God, because one day they will die, and surely go to hell if their wordly deeds were sinful in any respect. To some that's shaving their beards, but to my worldly & less stuckup friends, it's eating from McDonald's or touching gelatin-laden candy bars. Nothing else matters... so back-biting, lying, having a girlfriend etc. are all ok, as long as you go to the Mosque once a week, and talk about God atleast once a day.

So, for now, my friend is sticking to number 6, that is: the ever trustfully halal McFish sandwich. Nope, no beef or chicken. He does this about 2 to 3 times a year, and each phase lasts about a month. [Shit, if I take a sociology class, I'd definitely get an A!]

But this time, he's starting a Muslim club at our school. Being "the best friend" I was supposed to be next to him, but unfortunately I wasn't. An excuse was the lack of time, but did I really want to be a part of this club? According to my neuronic beats, it's a clear na-na. If only my friend would have called something like the South Asian Forum or the Pakistan Club, I would have considered joining, but with every darn school in America having a Muslim club or student organization, this wasn't very innovative. My country hasn't really gained much from their Muslim brotherane, except for notriousness and stereotyping of it's populance with those in the Arab world. This is like petioning the local supermarket to carry halal foods or making sure your school provides you a room to pray in, neither one of which is not going to help Muslims, joining the mainstream will. Similarly, I don't believe that having these "clubs" would in any form do any good to their culture or religion, and in turn just widen the divide even further.

A lot of chick-struck guys showed up at the first meeting, mostly to see how manybares ankles they can get a peek at. If only it had been summer, this event wouldn't have been very maketable... damn those whiteys in their short skirts!

Anyway I wish them all good luck. Atleast their making some use of their student activities fees.
