I've always wanted to have my own portal of sorts, and although RCCZone was a somewhat successful realization of that. But the user base was geographically very limited. So, I've expanded my range geographically. No that's not a reference to my growing pot belly, it's my latest project, ApnaSpace.com, a hip new social network for Desi youth. Desi, if you don't know, is the nom de West for people of South Asian origin, mostly from Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. So in ways, this a desi alternative to MySpace, Orkut or Hi5.

Not that I am pioneer in this class as there are already a number of such sites. But for some reason most of them focus on the 'matchmaking' part, because that's all desis need to do, finish college, get a job, find someone and get their ass married. So in ways, we are trying to offer desi youth oppurtunity to have some fun while they can! And with features like blogs, photo galleries, flash games and customizable profile that can feature full length music videos, they can have plenty of it in one place... I mean fun. (Get your head out of the gutter!)

As of now it's in BETA since there are bugs present and some featured need to be added or tweaked. I am hoping for a launch in the first week of next month. Hopefully this site will fly off my server, crash it and make it move to a bigger meaner server. Fingers crossed.
